Nickelback’s triumphant “Burn It To The Ground” would well accompany hurling a helicopter at one’s opponent the meaty riff and sinister snarl of singer Chad Kroeger balance classic rock with a venomous post-grunge sound making for the album’s toughest tune. Green Day follow it up with the moody “21 Guns,” a strolling ballad with a punchy chorus pulled from their celebrated 2009 album 21st Century Breakdown. Linkin Park get things going with the emo-tinged “New Divide.” The song paints a dark backdrop with mechanical sounding orchestration and a soaring chorus loaded with razor-honed hooks. If intergalactic, shape-shifting, alien robots really did decide to settle an age-old feud on our home planet, it would make perfect sense for them to battle it out to a larger-than-life soundtrack like this one.
